| It seems
to me that usually, this page on a site is written to impress others.
It lists, in a fairly stilted fashion, and usually in third person,
all the info the subject of this kind of page thinks others need to
know (based on, I suppose, what traditionalists say others need to
know). Honest injun, I couldn’t bear the thought of writing something
like that. If you want to see that kind of stuff about me, please
feel free to look at my Wikipedia
entry, or my story.
Instead, here’s stuff about me. What I’ve learned in
life is that if you don’t like me, you won’t want to work
with me, or interview me, or even follow me on Twitter. Conversely, if you like me, working, interviewing, and following will be a no brainer. Here’s
what you need to know to make those kinds of decisions.
I am:
Stacy Brice
Age: 46
Location:
Geographically speaking, I am a confirmed east-coast girl, living
near the southern end of the BOS-WAS corridor, with incredibly strong
ties to New York.
Professional accomplishments
- Formalizing the Virtual Assistance profession
in ’97; genius when it comes to this profession.
- Founding AssistU in ’97 and have trained
and supported close to 1,000 people in becoming Virtual Assistants
in businesses they love
- Coaching women to have extraordinary businesses
and lives since ‘96
- What’s Next - the next generation of
what I’m up to. I’m passionate about helping women uncover
and develop “what’s next” for them in their lives
and work
Tidbits about me
- I care deeply.
- I’m generally quick-witted.
- I’m multifarious. And voraciously verbal.
I love words. I even like small ones now and then.
- I love to write and hate to edit because
I find self-censorship beyond difficult.
- I’m grateful for everything. Literally.
- I’m an absolute girlie-girl and confirmed
voluptuary. If it’s not comfy, it’s not for me.
- I’m gracious.
- I’m direct.
- I love tea. Almost as much as I love words.
Or fonts. Or cheese.
- I want to run free and be contained at the
same time.
- I'm good company...I'll make you laugh.
- I have no patience for the cocktail level
of life, and crave intensity.
- I know more about the architecture in Baltimore
than an ordinary resident has any business knowing.
- I value context over content; gracefulness
of language over indecorousness.
- To me, nice matters - maybe now more than
ever.
- I love to touch, feed, and hug giraffes.
- I’m an introvert.
- I’m super sensitive to group energy.
- I am the least goal-oriented person you’re
ever likely to meet. This obviously doesn't stop me from doing BIG things!
- I desperately wanted to be a disc jockey,
became a travel consultant instead, and years later, without any
idea what I was doing, then launched a new profession (Virtual
Assistance) and became a business owner and entrepreneur (obviously
where I belong!)
- I have a huge capacity for finding, then
taking in, information.
- I connect dots that most people can't even see.
- I’m complex and complicated.
- I love to shop.
- I think too much.
- I feel too deeply.
- I cry at the drop of a hat.
- I’m bigger (emotionally, intellectually,
relationally) than most people you know.
- I can find just about anything, superfast.
- I despise drama.
- My greatest need is to be fully seen; to
know and be known.
- I don’t seek fame or popularity. I
seek to be of use, and of benefit to the people around me, and
even on a more global scale. I ultimately want a seat at a table full of fabulous wise women from which we'll teach younger women all that we know.
My values:
The who of things really matters to me. In fact, who people are,
and how transparent they are with others are probably two of my
highest values. Intensity is probably a third, integrity and compassion
fourth and fifth, graciousness and gratitude round out the list-not
in any particular order, though, they’re all sort of glomed
together in the number one slot.
Who I work with:
Women. As coach and retreat leader, I only work with women. Young,
old, fat, thin, rich, not-so rich, it doesn’t matter. I’m
simply passionate about supporting women. I adore men, but don’t
enjoy working with them, so I don’t. At AssistU, we do train
men-but they’re rare (in more ways than one)!
What I believe in:
- I believe in doing the right thing-always.
- I believe relationships rule the day, and
good relationships rule the world.
- I believe that we’re all connected.
- I believe we should all do good-even as
we’re trying to do well.
- I believe in relationships-long-term, strong,
deep, and intense.
- I believe there’s no such thing as
coincidence.
- I believe that every home needs a Jacuzzi.
Or at least a really amazing soaking tub. I’m convinced there
would be fewer divorces as a result.
- I believe we are all powerful beyond measure,
although most of us don’t believe it (we’re too afraid
of being too big for our britches).
- I believe that there’s something bigger
than all of us out there, but I don’t care what anyone calls
it.
- I believe every one of us needs faith, and
that life without it, in some form, is desolate.
- I believe that each of us could have personal
and professional standards that are higher than they are today.
- I believe that English should be the official
language of the United States.
- I believe diversity rocks, and we stand
to learn a lot from one another.
- I believe women can do very well in business
without following the traditional male model of business.
- I believe in growing young and having the
wisdom to consciously do so. After all, what’s the point
sense of having the hard-won experience that life gives us if
we’re not going to use it to better our lives as we grow
older? As such, I align myself with the neotenous traits of a
child: love, friendship, sensitivity, think soundly, to know,
to learn, work, organization, curiosity, wonder, playfulness,
imagination, creativity, openmindedness, flexibility, experimental-mindedness,
explorativeness, resiliency, enthusiasm, sense of humor, joyfulness,
optimism, honesty and truth, compassionate intelligence, song,
dance.
- I believe that when there seem to be two
options, you should always choose the third.
Why you should get to know me:
Maybe we’re meant to work together. Maybe we’re meant
to become fast friends. Maybe you’re meant to write a glowing
piece about me and my work for the Times. It’s different
for everyone. Find out… say hi!
